About me:

My name is Sohrab Ghavami, and I’m delighted to confirm that I will be continuing as your Parish Councillor for another four-year term.

For the past six years, it has been a genuine privilege to represent our community, and I’m excited about building on what we’ve achieved together over the next four years.

My family and I have called Simpson Manor home for 20 years. My wife and I watched our two sons grow up here – they attended Wootton Primary and CCS before heading off to university. Now they’re back in Northampton, testament to the strong community ties this area creates. My wife contributed to our community for over 13 years by running the local breakfast club, providing essential support to working parents.

I became a parish councillor because I believe in giving back to the community that has given us so much. From day one, I’ve focused on being an active councillor – not just attending meetings, but rolling up my sleeves and getting involved in projects that make a real difference to residents’ daily lives while ensuring excellent value for money.

I’m particularly proud of several projects that have transformed our community:

Our Community Library: I was part of the original volunteer team that helped transition our library from Borough control to community management. Seeing our brand new library open during COVID as part of the Community Centre was truly special. With over 22,000 visitors annually, it’s become a vital hub for residents of all ages. I continue to volunteer in the library each week staying in touch with generations of families that use our services.

Simpson Manor Memorial Garden: I was involved in this project from conception to completion, creating a peaceful space for reflection and remembrance ( Army Barrack in the same exact spot) that residents can enjoy for years to come.

Keeping Wootton Beautiful: As a member of our litter picking team, I help ensure our streets remain clean and welcoming. I also support our local Neighbourhood Watch in Simpson Manor whenever needed.

Bringing the Community Together: Through our events team, I’ve helped organise annual fireworks displays, Wootton Food Bites, Christmas and summer fairs, free family fun days, tree planting initiatives, VE Day celebrations, and fundraising activities for Wootton St. George Church.

I believe in staying informed and effective. Over the past six years, I’ve attended numerous training courses to enhance my knowledge and skills, ensuring I can serve you better as your councillor.

Our parish council works as a hands-on, supportive team. Together, we’ve not only maintained our high standards of service but actually improved both the quality and range of what we offer residents.

As I begin my next term, I remain passionate about this work because I see the difference it makes to people’s lives. Whether it’s a child discovering their love of reading in our library, families enjoying our community events, or neighbours taking pride in our well-maintained parks and streets, these improvements matter.

I promise to continue being the active, accessible councillor you deserve – someone who listens to your concerns, works hard on your behalf, and never forgets that serving this community is both an honour and a responsibility.

Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to serving Wootton with dedication and enthusiasm for another four years.
