Grass

We’ve had a few residents raise concerns about the grass and previously the hedge cutting in the parish. These areas are currently maintained by West Northamptonshire Council’s (WNC) contractors, and Wootton Parish Council cannot take over the grass maintenance until their contract ends in 2028.

🌱 Grass is cut using large machinery that mulches the clippings and leaves them on the ground. This helps reduce costs, saves time, and returns nutrients to the soil. We know it can look untidy, but we unfortunately don’t have the capacity to clean up after WNC’s contractors.

🌿 Hedges are also cut by WNC’s contractors using mechanical equipment. This method can look quite harsh, but have been advised that this is a cost-effective approach, and the trees and shrubs do grow back.

We’re always happy to report specific issues to WNC, so if there’s an area you’re concerned about, please let us know, or report to WNC directly via fixmystreet.
